The Gaming Headsets Audeze Penrose and Penrose X leave a lot of potential and thus the top grade. This is mainly due to the terrible microphone, which failed in the test in the voice quality all the line. Too bad, because valence, comfort and especially the sound make fun. High quality and chic
The Penrose exists in two versions: Audeze Penrose with blue color accents for Sony’s Playstation, PC and Mac as well as Penrose X with green accents for Microsoft’s Xbox, PC and Mac. Except for the color playgrounds, both valent-acting gaming headsets look the same: straps and ear cups are made of metal and matt plastic. Headband and ear pads consist of faux leather covered foam and are comfortable at the head. Weighing just under 370 grams does not interfere with the headset even with longer zoom sessions.
Many connections, little battery
Both models are best working on the devices intended for them, but the Penrose X can be used approximately at the PlayStation 5 when switching to the PC mode. For the connection to appropriate technology, users use either the associated dongle, Bluetooth or classic to the jack cable. Especially about the strip it does not matter anyway, on which console you want to use the headset. The USB-C port is intended exclusively for charging the installed battery, which is used in wireless use. In the test of computer picture, however, the energy store made just 14 hours in a row before the puffs went out.
Torrible micro, but…
Normally, at tests from computer picture, only the rating quality is evaluated before it goes to the recording quality via the built-in microph1. After all, even cheap headsets shine in this discipline. Not so the eyeze Penrose! There was a veritable fracture landing in the test. Above all, the voice quality for frustration caused the removable microphone arm. Thus, test recordings sounded very limited and as out of the tin. Respiratory sounds were clearly heard clearly despite various micro-positioning and pop protection. After all: hissing S-lute does not exist and noise in the area does not give the micro. Under the stroke, however, this would not have changed much on the mixed overall impression. It is a pity that is mainly for players who suffer from crisp quality.

But where the microphone fails because the sound is excited. In games and music playback is balanced and separated. The bass brings exactly the right serving wumms on the ears without being annoying in the long run. Especially in shooters like “Battlefield 2042” and “Call of Duty: Vanguard” a not very unimportant aspect, always bangs and explodes all naselang around the player. Speaking of Shooter: Thanks to excellent room location, players and players actually hear the steps of enemies before the first shot falls. Strong! You do not have to worry about quietly sound: With nearly 120 decibels Maximum volume, the Audeze Penrose scratches on the pain threshold and thunders as loud as a nozzle jet. Attention: In no case should you listen so loudly or listen to music, because after a short time, the possibly leads to hearing damage.

Good and quite cheap alternatives are the two house headsets from Microsoft and Sony. The Xbox Wireless Headset and the Sony Pulse 3D cost almost 100 euros each and enjoy all the advantages of your associated consoles.
